It was a special moment on Friday last as Holy Family pupil Danny Rooney got the opportunity to meet some of the world’s greatest rugby stars. Danny was a guest of Aoibheann’s Pink Tie at an event in Croke Park, where he came face to face with several of the All-Blacks who were scheduled to compete against Ireland that weekend.

Danny was accompanied by his father Damien as they rubbed shoulders with some of the Southern Hemisphere’s finest. They were fortunate enough to meet stars such as Waisake Naholo and scrum-half
Pernenara, who led the haka on Saturday night.

The  special day was made all the more special the following evening as Ireland overcame the All-Blacks 16-9 in a thrilling encounter at the Aviva Stadium. It will surely be a moment that Danny will never forget.

Girl’s and Boy’s Teams do Holy Family Senior School Proud in Football Finals

Category : Blog

There was a historic victory on Wednesday the 24th as the Girls of Holy Family Senior School were crowned Cumann na mBunscol champions for the first time. The victory coincided with the boy’s team finishing as hard fought runners up in the shield final.

The girls, who were managed by Ms. Duff, Ms. O’ Keefe and Ms. Delaney put on a virtuoso performance as they displayed great teamwork, determination and skill to beat a well trained Ratheniska team.

Unfortunately for our boys team, they fell short against a good Abbeyleix team. A word of thanks must go to the management team of Mr. Malone, Mr. Dunne, Mr. Barry and Mr. Downey.

Well done to all involved as attention turns to a well deserved mid-term break for both teams.
