School Book Scheme

Category : Blog

From September, schoolbooks, workbooks and copybooks will be provided to every child by the school. All pencils, copybooks etc. will also be provided. There will be no charge for parents for these as the school will receive funding from the Government to cover these costs.

The items provided under the scheme include:

  • School Books for a Range of Subjects
  • Writing and Maths Copies
  • Stationery – Pencils, pens, rulers, parer, eraser etc.

There will, however, be a cost of €25 for each child to offset the costs not covered by Government funding. While the Government funding covers the cost of the vast majority of classroom materials, this additional money is needed to pay for Arts and Crafts, photocopying and other classroom materials.

The children will need to bring a schoolbag, pencil case and lunch box on the first day of school.

We are also asking parents to get a set of headphones for their child. These are for use with the school iPads and Laptops. These should preferably be wired, but wireless will do. Most children might have a pair at home but there is no need to spend a lot if you don’t already have them. They can be bought for €3/4 from Mr. Price or other retailers in Portlaoise.

The €25 can be paid later this Summer through the Aladdin app or at the school office (cash / card).
