Game of Two-Halves at Holy Family World Cup Final

Category : Blog

Last Friday saw the final of the Holy Family World Cup. It was played out on the Edmund Rice field in glorious sunshine. Both teams who made the final played extremely well to make it to the showpiece event. The teams, Portugal and France,  were cheered on by the entire school who lined the sidelines to offer fantastic support. The crowd were treated to a hard fought and exciting game. Both teams gave their all and things were extremely tight at 0-0 going into half time. However, the second half saw a change in momentum as France turned on the style to secure a hard fought victory of Portugal to secure the Holy Family World Cup 2018.

At the awards ceremony Mr. Malone commented on the dedication shown by all the teams and players who turned up after school to play in the competition.

Individual awards were presented to the best boy and girl player of the tournament. Kacper (Mr. Finn’s Class) was the winner of the boys award while Victoria (Ms. Redmond’s Class) picked up the prize for best girl player. Well done to both.

A word of thanks to Mr. Malone who organised the tournament and refereed the final. Thanks also to Mr. O’ Shea and Mr. Gavin who were referees throughout the tournament.
