In November 2017, thirteen teachers from the four other partner schools visited our school.
They spent three days in the school where they learned how literacy is taught.
They were welcomed to the school on the first day by the Student’s Council and then children from the
school participated in a welcome ceremony where they sang, danced, recited poetry and
played music for the visitors. They then got a tour of the school where they visited some classes
and the Star Centre. Many classes had prepared for the visit by doing project work on the
countries of the visiting teachers.

The visitors were given presentations by some of the Holy Family teachers and this was
followed by visits to various classrooms to see how literacy skills are taught. A debate was also
held in the school hall between Holy Family School and Ballyfin NS. The Minister for Justice,
Charlie Flanagan T.D., also visited the school to meet the European visitors and to see the
benefits of Erasmus+ in action.
The visitors also had the opportunity to see the sights of Laois with visits to Emo Court, The
Rock of Dunamaise, Glenbarrow and the Slieve Blooms.
